Lilies of the Field

      Are you as tired as I am of being lied to by people who are in places of authority or the news media? Sadly, it is not a surprise to me that lies are spreading like similar wildfires of gossip and slander today. What I am sickened over more than anything else, however—even more than the lies being fed to us by authority figures in our nation—are the lies the deceived tell themselves on a regular basis. Professing believers who claim Christ as their own, but who live like Satan—supporting the things Satan supports and contrives—are lying to themselves! There can be no sadder example of lying than that. To some extent, we all lie to ourselves every time we give in to the temptation to rationalize our sin. Thankfully, true believers have the Spirit of truth residing in us to convict us of lies we sometimes try to allow ourselves to believe.   The world in which we live is dominated by people whom God has given over to a reprobate or depraved mind.
